SUSTAINING THINGS FOR THE FUTURE
We expanded our activities this year to incorporate "one-offs", workshops, a cabaret and more ambitious main productions. We have also moved into non-theatre areas like making "radio plays" and video productions. Should this continue?
We have started to attract more and more new members for acting. This means we could easily start to expand our activities if we wanted. However, we can't do this without more backstage people. Although new people have come forward, others have disappeared so we're still seeking new directors, poster-designers, publicity workers, lighting specialists, set designers, musicians and so on. What can we do about this lack on the production side?
We are also increasing our audiences, but very slowly and the vast majority are still friends and family of cast. We are getting more ambitious and we need more money. At the same time, funding to Arts Councils is being cut and it is not so easy to get grants any more. What can we do to help with this?
CONFIRMING THIS YEAR'S PANTOMIME
Technically not part of the AGM, but we will use some spare time at the end to confirm our choice of panto for Xmas 2005. We have just one script submitted: "Dick Whittington's Cat" by Victoria Bettelheim. Depending on time we should be able to read a few bits out, offer a little feedback and talk about the practicalities of the show. The deadline has now passed for submitting alternative panto ideas for this year, but we can also talk about future Xmas shows.
Come along, give your ideas and offer your expertise. We can't run the group without you!
